The Clear Skye's Story

Where it All Began in June 2014

 It was June 2014 when Clear Skye's was born, me aged 22! My Mum was a keen crafter herself, and one day she handed me a Dremmel tool and she let me lose on the glasses and jars in our kitchen. Yup, hand engraving! I enjoyed it. I had previously studied Art for 5 years so I think it came naturally to me. I started doing it as Skye (who was 1 and a half at the time) slept. I shared it on Facebook and soon my business page was born!

 I quickly went viral! After 7 weeks I had gained 14 thousand followers! My few day lead time turned into 16 weeks and it quickly became my full time job, around a baby! By my first year, I had 30 thousand followers. I was sleeping every other night and working 18 hour days! I was so thankful, but so tired. I couldn't continue this way.

 I originally didn't want a laser engraver. People bought my things because they were hand engraved. But having a laser engraver opened so many doors for me! And made my business much less stressful and I was able to meet demand much better. It made business sense. I still use designs I hand drew at 16 for GCSE work, or hand drew from my hand engraving stage. And now I digitally draw some designs too!

 September 2018, after 4 amazing years, I got my first home with my daughter, and I couldn't take Clear Skye's with me, so I called it quits. Mentally, I was in a very bad place so truthfully, I wasn't even sad about leaving it at the time. I took 4 years out to work for the NHS as a pharmacy dispenser throughout the pandemic. It was nice having a day job for a little while, but as I became happier and healed my mental wounds, Clear Skye's was all I could think about.

 I made so many pretty things for mine and Nathan's wedding back in May 2022! That's what gave me the bug. I was going to return even if it killed me! So September 2022 was the relaunch of Clear Skye's! And I truly believe this is where I am supposed to be and what I am supposed to be doing. Skye is nearly 10 now, and she understand what I'm doing. I love being able to share this journey with her!

 I have so much motivation and so many ideas I want to do that I could burst! I am so excited for what 2023 holds for Clear Skye's and my family. I want to be on billboards, I want a warehouse and more lasers, I want my husband to leave his job and work with me, I want a branded taxi driving around London with my logo on, I want video adverts, I want a collab collection with someone who shall for now remain nameless. But I'm coming for it! Wait and see!
